It is with great and undiluted pleasure that we announce a strategic and Joint Venture Partnership between African Women's Health Project International (AWHPI) and The Global Institute For Human Excellence, on the one hand, and Global Council of Women For Development, on the other hand, to Host the Global Summit On Women Empowerment on Friday, April 29th – Saturday, 30th, 2016 at One UN Plaza, One United Nations Plaza, New York, NY 10017.
This year’s Summit theme: Empower Women and you Empower Mankind! The Director General of the Summit, Dr. Yomi Garnett said the Summit is envisaged to be an international forum for the comprehensive evaluation of the socio-economic, political and intellectual development of women in the new millennium, will provide a neutral pedestal for a global collaboration of governments, organizations and businesses for the continued well-being, social emancipation and economic empowerment of women worldwide. It will also be a nexus at which relevant stakeholders involved in concerted effort towards the achievement of Millennium Development Goal 3, would converge to re-examine progress achieved so far, and to proffer workable strategies for consolidating on the gains attained. As a business Summit, it will beam a flashlight on the entrepreneurial advancement of women in a male-dominated corporate world.
The Distinguished Advisory Board of the Summit is Chaired by Dr. Gloria Herndon, President/CEO, GB Group Global, Washington, DC. Dr. Herndon comes from an uncommonly rich pedigree in committed public service as a seasoned diplomat, and rewarding entrepreneurship spanning more than forty five years. “It is instructive to note that the 1995 Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing marked the significant turning point for the global agenda for gender equality. That’s why this Summit is so important,” says Dr. Herndon.
The Summit, which is being held in perfect synchrony and coincidence in continuation of last year's United Nations General Assembly, and at which the world body celebrated its 70th year of existence, is expected to have women leaders from all over in attendance.
