Press Release - International Women’s Think Tank (IWTT) and Football Foundation for Africa (FFA) Join Forces to Empower Women and Girls in African Soccer

The International Women’s Think Tank (IWTT) is proud to announce a dynamic new partnership with the Football Foundation for Africa (FFA), celebrating a shared vision to drive meaningful and lasting change for women and girls in soccer across Africa. This collaboration formalized at the Africa Football Business Summit in October 2024, will kick off initiatives designed to open up opportunities for women and girls—cultivating entrepreneurship, supporting educational pathways, and promoting equitable leadership on and off the field.

The partnership comes at a time when interest and investment in women’s soccer are at an all-time high, driven by the remarkable success of recent international tournaments and the growing recognition of the transformative power of the women’s game. This momentum underscores the urgent need to ensure that women and girls have access to the resources, support, and safe environments necessary to thrive in sports.

Together, IWTT and FFA are committed to making a tangible impact, focusing on practical support and innovative research that addresses the unique challenges faced by women and girls in soccer throughout the continent. A key priority will be implementing robust safeguarding measures to protect against exploitation and ensure the well-being of all participants, recognizing the critical role of safety in fostering trust and empowerment.

This partnership embodies a shared commitment to equipping the next generation of African women and girls with essential skills, resources, and the confidence to excel, paving the way for a brighter future in sports and beyond. By addressing systemic challenges and leveraging the immense potential of women’s soccer, IWTT and FFA aim to inspire transformative progress for women and girls across Africa.
