Global Women's Leadership: Research & Insight Brief 2026
Advancing Women and Girls Through Research, Policy, and Innovation

Executive Summary

The mission of the International Women’s Think Tank (IWTT) is to advance research, leadership, education, policy dialogue, and strategic partnerships to improve outcomes for women and girls.

Founded March 8, 2012, on the conviction that awareness without action is insufficient, IWTT has functioned not as a passive observer of the gender gap but as an active engine of change, translating research into programs, and programs into measurable impact across the lives of women, girls, and families. Action Research bridges the gap between producing knowledge and creating change. It transforms research from a report into a live engine of institutional reform and policy. IWTT provides a leadership pipeline and cross-sector partnerships as it works simultaneously across leadership, education, technology, entrepreneurship, health and economic empowerment. We anchor all of our work in action programs and research.

The World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report (2025) provides a snapshot of women’s progress in global leadership. IWTT’s research central theme, “Global Women’s Leadership” provides current and updates on the status of global women’s leadership across all sectors to include corporate, agricultural, technological, social and political information. Secondly, this theme serves as a benchmark to our specific interventions regarding those findings. IWTT initiatives reflect our interest in directly impacting global disparities.
